Role of UX in the organizational commitments to strengthen the performance

UX or User Experience is the key to making any business/product/service a success because if the user is not comfortable using the product/service no matter how functional or appealing the interface maybe it will render useless. UX design is very crucial to getting amazing user experience. In order to do so UX design process is very crucial. The core focus of a good UX design is the functionality and usability of the product based on user expectations.

Understanding user needs

This stage is very important and the key to delivering a successful product outcome. This is a proper brainstorming phase between the UX designers and the stakeholders. A product/service should not be developed based on assumptions. Detailed research goes into surveys, interviews with users paying close attention to user needs and existing data. Answers to the following questions are obtained at the end of the phase

  • Who will use this product/service?
  • What are the user needs?
  • What the product will deliver
  • Identify challenges
  • In case there is an existing product, how this product will be better in terms of functionality and usability

This stage basically tries to attain a consensus between the team and stakeholders about the product and how it will satisfy the user needs. This phase is important as it gives the UX designers the data needed to build the product. This stage also determines the outline of the team structure, how they will work together, points of contact and keeping the user needs in focus.

Organizational commitment

A UX Designer has to work closely with cross-functional teams to gather and understand business and its future requirements. They should know the target users deeply. We need to develop or work from user profiles & conduct task analysis, build user scenarios, help to craft and analyze user surveys and feedback.

Performance of the company

UX bridges the gap between the user's needs and the goals of the company. It helps in creating a design that the users find useful, usable, and attractive at the same time, resulting in a wider customer base and increased revenue.

Skill sets and techniques

There are few common skill sets which need to be attained being a UX designer.

Curiosity: Professionals who are curious have the capacity to engage with clients, products, and challenges in meaningful ways. Curiosity leads to asking insightful questions, active listening, and engaging more deeply with problems.

Empathy: UX emphasizes a positive customer experience. That’s why the best UX designers take time to learn about people and their inclinations. A deep understanding of end users allows designers to create products that truly engage and delight.

Communication: Communication is essential in UX. Designers must convey product ideas, explain thinking behind designs, and work with other teams. Their work also requires elements of storytelling. Effective communication skills help designers create, collaborate, adapt, and improve products and systems with ease.

Collaboration: Good UX design means incorporating the ideas of developers, clients, and teamm members. UX designers need to effectively give and receive feedback, explore solutions, andincorporate the expertise and needs of everyone involved in a project to create the best products possible.

Enhanced Learning Approach

Here are some brain-based learning strategies that are substantiated by actual scientific research.

Solve real problems: Problem-based learning (PBL)

According to Dr. Eric Jensen, author of the book “Brain-Based Learning”, the human brain is wired to solve problems. When you collaborate with other students, peers, or friends to solve problems, you learn new ways to use and combine the information you read about, resulting in new synaptic connections being formed in your brain.

Discuss with others: Active discussion & debate

When it comes to learning, there’s a considerable difference between consuming content passively or being engaged in active participation. When you’re part of a discussion, you’re forced to participate and interact — you’re cognitively and emotionally engaged, from a science perspective. Not only are you constructing new knowledge based on your own previous experience, you’re also being exposed and challenged to new ideas and perspectives.

Simulate & role-play: Simulations as a learning tool

Simulations and role-playing are commonly used as a learning strategy since they share many of the benefits of the strategies mentioned above — such as increasing motivation and emotional engagement, which brain research considers as important factors in fostering learning.

Develop a growth mindset: Create a positive environment for learning

Emotions are crucial to learning. The positive impact that emotional involvement has on learning — the building of synaptic connections — is backed by brain research too. This is true for negative emotions as well. Therefore, it’s important to be in a positive climate for learning, either in a classroom or your own learning space, whether that’s physical or virtual. Considering that there are many variables we can’t control, a growth mindset is something that we all can develop.

Outcome or Target based objective

The process of UX is based on tried and true methods that puts the end-user first while designing experiences that meet their needs. The UX outcome of that process is an experience that is intuitive, easy to use, and helps accomplish the goals of the end user.

Future Scalability

Scalable design is a form of responsiveness, in that it responds to the dimensions of the screen the content is being delivered to. A typical UX design process will follow some basic steps as depicted in the figure below. Each of these stages is iterative in nature and can be revisited as many times as possible to avoid future complications.
